LONDON, November 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Media reports over the weekend suggested that Marion Walker FRPharm, whohas resigned from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD), wasrepresenting the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain on theCouncil.

It is a statutory requirement that there is a pharmacist representativeon the ACMD, but no member of the ACMD represents the Society. All members ofthe ACMD are appointed by the Secretary of State for Health after anindependent recruitment process.

Marion Walker is a Fellow of the Society with extensive expertise in thefield of drugs misuse.
