PHARMACEUTICALS AND LIFE SCIENCES STRENGTHS WORKSHOP

DRIVING HIGH PERFORMANCE, ENGAGEMENT AND WELLBEING USING STRENGTHS-BASED HR IN PHARMACEUTICALS AND LIFE SCIENCES

Details

RECENT research reveals that organisations can achieve major improvements in performance, discretionary effort and engagement by developing and optimising people’s strengths rather than using more traditional approaches focused on weakness-fixing. A better understanding of one’s strengths also helps people deal more effectively with weaker areas and performance blockers.

As a result of the fast growing interest in strengths-based people management approaches, we are offering a series of sector-specific introductory workshops for senior HR, training, talent management and OD professionals. These workshops will provide an overview of positive psychology and strengths HR concepts, better practices and practical options for using this approach to improve results and workforce engagement.

The first of these workshops will focus on the Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Life Sciences sectors and takes place at a creative learning space, Wallacespace (http://www.wallacespace.com) in Covent Garden, Central London from 9.30 - 5PM ON 25TH MAY 2010.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the programme, participants will:

  • Understand the benefits of positive psychology and strengths-based HR, including how these can help build a culture of high trust, engagement and high performance.
  • Have a clear understanding of their own strengths (based on the Strengthscope™ assessment) and how these can be optimised to accelerate their performance, career and confidence.
  • Understand how strengths-based approaches can be applied at each stage of the HR life cycle, including hiring, performance management, career planning, retention and employee engagement.
  • Have considered practical options to use strengths to improve the way “smarts” or particularly intelligent R&D professionals and technical experts are managed and motivated.
  • Learn about sector-specific tools and techniques that can be put into immediate effect to boost morale and sales performance of pharmaceutical reps and other key employee groups.
  • Draft a Strengths Implementation Plan for discussion with key stakeholders to introduce strengths-based HR into their organisation in a way that fits the culture, strategy and values.

DELIVERY APPROACH

Our highly interactive and innovative delivery approach uses blended training and development methods including experiential learning, group discussions, personal reflection, skills practice and coaching. This is all done in a fun and creative learning environment, reflecting our ethos and values.

PHARMACEUTICALS AND LIFE SCIENCES STRENGTHS WORKSHOP

Participants will be invited to complete the Strengthscope™ profiler in advance of the workshop. This market leading 360-degree online profiler takes around 25-minutes to complete and provides a comprehensive measurement of an individual's strengths at work, i.e., underlying characteristics that particularly energise them and enable them to achieve their personal best at work. The profiler is being used by a wide range of major organisations including Facebook, ING Direct, Novartis, Panasonic, Rolls Royce, Tesco, Thermo Fisher Scientific.
